Statement

 

My practice is a cross-disciplinary engagement with sculpture, site-specific installation, and photography. I attempt to express the notion of boundaries, and the quiet unknown world lying beyond lived experiences. My visual investigations represent inseparable yet opposite ideas - interior and exterior, sanctity and secularity, eternity and demise. I use straight thin steel and cut glass to make my work. The hard, cold, reflective and fragile properties of steel and glass possess defining characteristics. These materials are cut, welded, inlaid, combined together.  By exploiting the environmental and architectural features of the spaces in which they are presented and in addition to the innate qualities of the materials. I aim to create a sense of tension at the boundary between the known and the unknown world.

​私の作品は、彫刻、サイトスペシフィック・インスタレーション、写真を横断する実践です。境界という概念、そして現実の彼方にある静かで未知の世界を表現しようと試みています。視覚的な探求を通して、内と外、神聖と世俗、永遠と終焉といった、切り離すことのできない、しかし相反する概念を探求しています。 私は、まっすぐで薄い鋼鉄とカットガラスを用いて作品を制作しています。これらの素材の硬さ、冷たさ、反射性、そして脆さが、その存在感を決定づけています。カット、溶接、象嵌、組み合わせ、作品を構成しています。作品が展示される空間の環境・建築的特徴、そして素材の物質性に拠り、既知と未知との境界に緊張を生み出すことを目指しています。
